Our world continues to get smaller and smaller as we get better at communicating. In recent years our most common commodity of communication has been our social media accounts. Their convenience, accessibility, and fulfillment of many people's needs for entertainment, especially in the middle class as well as the fact that these applications are free for any user to obtain and use has made these a popular pastime for people of all ages and ethnicities. Yet, that raises a question, what is the best social media? We believe it is Instagram. Instagram is the most popular social media platform in the world because; statistically it has one of the largest user counts of all social media platforms and is constantly growing, it is consistently popular globally in opposition to other social media platforms which are popular in certain areas, and it shares many of the same features of other social media platforms.
Fiwa uwu: From year to year, Instagram grows at a fascinating rate. In Indonesia, a country deemed as the largest social media market, Instagram’s penetration rate reaches 80% of its target audience, fourth to Youtube, Whatsapp, and Facebook in that order. Even as various social media platforms show a decline in their user activity, Instagram continues to grow. In 2013, it only had 130 million active users per month and 800 million in September 2017. As of June 2018, the number has jumped over one billion accounts that are active monthly (TechChrunch, 2018) and five hundred million stories posted daily. This growth rate exceeds Snapchat who remains relatively stagnant. Snapchat grows at a rate of 2.13% per month, while Instagram is growing at a whopping 5%. Though it could be argued that Instagram’s fame is due to its “leeching off” of Snapchat’s features like the story and filters, Instagram is undoubtedly the fastest growing social media.

There are a variety of social media platforms that are popular and used by generations and generations these days. Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are for example. Instagram has been gaining substantial popularity over the years, overwhelming other successful social media platforms since Instagram was established in 2010. Many business enterprises use Instagram more than as a platform to promote their brands and services, with over 800 million people actively using Instagram every month, with 80% of Instagram users following at least one business account. And 59 percent of micro-influencers believe that Instagram is the best platform to promote their business, as 60 percent of their users visit these platforms daily. Instagram used its popularity as a business application so that the audience would continue to gain. The increasing number of users every year is also the cause of Instagram's constant updating of their features with what is happening.

The reason behind the long-term fame of Instagram is because they have lots of features. Instagram's first feature was only posting a photo and then they upgrade the app so that people can post a one minute video, and that was the moment when vine stars shifted to Instagram. also they develop it so they have a direct message where you can text people through Instagram. So people tend to use the direct message more than the whats app, line or etc because in the direct message feature you can share photos or videos from anyone’s feed. And then they upgrade the app with the snapchat features which is the story and the filters in it. The hyperlink of the username and especially the hashtag was probably inspired by one of the features on Twitter. They also have live features so that you can broadcast anytime and anywhere. In conclusion, Instagram is the combination of social media.
